PAN Theater Improvisational Troupe
Is the East Bay’s only acting studio dedicated
to the study, practice, and performance of improvisational theater, is pleased to
announce its next audition schedule. Pan is the East Bay’s largest and oldest improv
theater training thousands of actors each year.
Join us in Oakland for an audition playdate. Pan Theater is one block from BART. We are looking for both beginning (some prior improv / or theater training suggested) and experienced performers to join our troupes.
Improv is great for enhancing and refining your acting skills. Pan Theater brings together dedicated instructors and actors at every level of experience in a supportive and creative environment.
New to improv? You’ll learn alot about acting that you never knew existed, and you’ll also have a lot of fun!
It all starts with our open auditions.Our next troupe begins practice in February. Have fun, meet people and get on stage. Pan auditions are a fun chance to try improv at Pan Theater and to get on stage. Pan's auditions are a great chance to learn more about the Pan improv community.
Auditions and tryout details:
Pan's Short Form and Long Form Troupes:
Are for people
with some improv training who want to continue doing improv and who want to gain
experience and grow as a member of a directed improv troupe. We encourage anyone
with a sincere interest in improv to audition.
Awkward Face and Liquid Mind:
Generally appropriate for improvisers who have done
training for a year or more at a recognized improv center such as IO, Second City,
BATS, Pan or another major improv training center and who have performance experience.
Graduate of Recognized Improv Training Center: (BATS, IO, Second City, UCB, Pan)
If
you have completed improv training at a recognized training center and have performance
experience we suggest auditioning for the AfTers or Awkward Face. Please note the
initial audition for all groups is the same.
Pan auditions run approximately forty five minutes to ninety minutes depending on
the number of people auditioning. Typical format is group warm-
Pan’s Long Form and Short Form troupes provide training for those at the beginning and intermediate skill levels. Both troupes perform twice each ten weeks. Troupes practice weekly. Our troupes provide a chance to hone your improv skills and acting skills and gain performance experience. Most of the members of Pan’s the AfTers and Awkward Face began their training with one of Pan’s other troupes.
Troupe Dues:
All troupes are supported by member dues. Current member dues are $250
per quarter (ten weeks).

on our troupe tryouts. Tryouts are for our Wednesday night short form and long form
troupes starting practice on 2/8. Pan Theater has been training actors that choose
to improvise since 2002. Auditions dates: 1/25, 1/30 and 2/1.
