Pan Theater offers beginning,
intermediate and FREE Intro to
Improv classes. Our improv acting
classes are convenient to San Francisco, the East Bay (including
Oakland and Berkeley), San Jose and the entire Bay Area. Our San
Francisco improv performing troupes include former Pan Theater students.
We actively encourage our students to audition to join our
performing troupes. Our class space is three blocks only three
blocks from BART.

Intro to Improv
Intro to Improv: San
Francisco's Bay Area Favorite FREE Improv Acting Class.
Intro to Improv is a fun,
fast and no-cost way to try improv without signing up for an
ongoing class. The class is designed to provide an introduction
to the Pan Theater improv style. It is a useful class to take
before taking our Improv Basics class or as a brush up for
auditioning for one of our performing troupes.

Our September 10th class is geared as preparation for our beginning
troupe audition scheduled for October of 2007.

Our class for those looking to
explore improv theater or further their current training. This
is a basic course that covers basic improv skills, short
form games and provides opportunities to focus on improvised
scene work with feedback. This class is designed for both
beginning improvisers and those that have taken prior improv or
acting classes. This class is recommended for those
interested in auditioning for Pan Theater troupes. Each session
will has a unique focus such as: games, scene work, abstract exercises
or edits and endings.
For those focused on
performing (and that want to perform), or that have already
taken a basic class-
Short Form Games and Scene Work Review-Pan Theater Audition Prep Class
(This is the second class in the Pan
Theater Performance Sequence)
The class for those that have
already taken an mprov classes, or basic acting class. The class is also
for those that can jump in and go. This class
focuses on theater games and developing comfort in performing them. The
class will include extensive drilling of games from the Pan Theater
performance play book including: new choice, story, story die,
lines from a box and fast forward. This class is designed to provide
more scene work practice and to prepare performers for Pan Theater
Auditions.
Long Form Performance Lab: Prior Improv/or Scripted Experience

Next Session Starts May 28th
This class is by audition only and
will include three performances.
The class for those ready to explore
and perform long form improvisation. This class focuses improvised scene
work and improvised plays. The class will include extensive feedback.
The class will conclude with a final performance at the Blue Bear
Performance Hall in San Francisco. This class is designed for those that
have already taken acting and/or improv classes.
Acting 101 Short Scenes and Ten
Minute Plays:
Offered Three Times Per Year: Next
Session Starts June 3rd
Explore the work of scripted
theater. Work on the type of material Pan Theater uses in our annual
play festival: Anything Can Happen in Ten Minutes. The class will
included in class presentation of assigned plays and sketches. This
class will require outside class work. This class is designed for those
interested in exploring scripted work and for improvisers looking to go
to deeper levels in their work.
Repeating a Class:
Entire class sessions may be repeated on a space available basis for $75. Requires advance
registration using the link below.
Audition for one of our
Performing Troupes
Meisner
Technique
A scripted acting technique
that helps create more truthful and real acting and improv. This
class is offered during the day. Meisner technique helps move
beyond contrived acting to truthful in the moment actions. The
technique gives improvisers the ability to fully utilize the
moment and help overcome stage fright by enhancing focus.
Meisner training is offered twice per year at Pan Theater.
Children's Classes/Summer
Workshops
Pan Theater next
children's class cycle starts July 13th. This exciting,
creative and fun five week class will include a final class
performance. Class is geared for those from nine to fifteen
years old. This five week class will conclude with a small
in class evening performance. Both morning and evening
sessions are available. The class is five weeks long and is
$155 for the entire session. {repaid tuition is only $125
for the entire session!

Classes:
Pan Theater classes are
convenient to the entire Bay Area. Our class space is a twenty
minute BART ride from San Francisco. We are located near Lake
Merritt. Parking is easy and the our class space is a short ride
from the freeway for those driving. Students typically come from
San Francisco, Oakland, Berkeley, Concord and the entire Bay
Area.
We focus on improv acting and
improvised theater. We help people develop improv comedy and
acting skills. We do our best to provide audition and
performance opportunities for dedicated students. Be sure to see
our Dramedy and Comma show while registered in a class. It is
free to current students.
