Training Troupe: Level II

DESCRIPTION:

This troupe is for players who have completed Level I of troupe training at Pan Theater. Players will continue to practice skills learned in Level I while doing two person scene work. The focus of Level II is on  learning about character, relationships, narrative and status.  Participants that complete this program are eligible to audition for Training Troupe Level III or they may repeat this troupe program without auditioning again.  This class will include an introduction to basic repetition work from Meisner technique. The goal of this level is to provide a solid foundation in scene work and improvisational acting to prepare students for long form improv.

STRUCTURE:

Participation: by audition and invitation from the troupe directors.

Duration: 12 weeks, 1 workout/week, workouts are two and half hours.

Performance: One 45 minute public performance at the end

Cost: $225 paid in advance

Completion Requirement: attend at least 9 of the 12 workouts

Rehearsal Times: 7:30 to 10pm at director's discretion

Location:

Blue Bear Black Box- Fort Mason Center, Building D, 2nd floor

Format:

Short form games including:

New Choice, Lines from a Box, Snap/Snap/Clap,  Number of Words,

Touch to Talk, Silent Scenes,  and other related scenes and games. 

Beginning Long Form / Connected Scenes:

Five scenes in one location (aka Mama's Porch), and connected open scenes (Reflection Scenes).

 

Common Side Coaching Terms and Phrases at this Level:

Keep it real, let go, explore the space/silence, heighten the game/emotion/silence, do, embody/make it physical (emotion),

how do you feel about, really see/ do/ say,  what do you want from him/her?, what do you need?,

play the game, show don't tell, that means...
